CV

My undergraduate study focused on graphic design and web development, while my graduate work included curation of data-driven art exhibits; building computer-aided interactive, illuminated, and hydroponic sculptural works; and writing about the evolving relationship between art and science. For the past two years, I have worked as a non-faculty research analyst—“Data Visualization Artist-in-Residence”—at the University of Vermont Complex Systems Center. My work has spanned primarily two fields: 1) Twitter NLP and visualization, as a member of the Computational Story Lab; and 2) exploratory analysis tools for life insurance underwriting, as a member of the MassMutual Center of Excellence in Complex Systems and Data Science. I am proficient in full-stack web development and Python. I have a fundamental knowledge of R, MATLAB, and C++.

My research passions lie in developing new methods for exploratory analysis of high dimensional data, particularly in the domains of: 1) disinformation and the development or disruption of extremist political culture across social networks; 2) explainability of machine learning research through visualization, e.g. slicing neural architectures or animating JIT clustering algorithms; and 3) multivariate human health analysis, whether genomic or phenotypic (considering e.g. air quality, mental health, access to green space). I am seeking to improve my technical skills in computation, and my familiarity with IT infrastructure, through hands-on experience in one or more of my research domains of interest. It’s very important to me that my colleagues are interested in collaboration, interdisciplinary exploration, exchanging constructive feedback, publishing meaningful work, and sustaining a healthy work-life balance. I am very interested in research partnerships with institutions or private companies that develop and contribute to open source projects, provide data journalism opportunities, or develop educational resources in the form of visual interactives illustrating computer science concepts (some of my favorites: Distill, Complexity Explorables, PAIR, R2D3).
